1. ff. 1-4: //tatem dedit hominibus alleluia. Cap. Primum quidem sermonem feci de omnibus…octava non est ulterius replenda.
Temporale, beginning defectively in the antiphon for the psalm at vespers of Ascension, through the rubrics for the last Sunday after Pentecost.
2. ff. 4-9v: Dedication of a church. 3. ff. 9-84v: Rubrics for the offices of saints. [f. 85r-v, ruled, but blank] 4. ff. 86-87: Common of saints. 5. ff. 87-171v: Sanctorale from Tiburtius and Valerian (14 April) through All Souls (2 November); included are the feasts of Peter martyr, Translation of Dominic, Medard, Gervasius and Protasius, Dominic, Lambert, Remigius, Leodegar, Crispin and Crispinian; a leaf missing after f. 159 (end of Cosmas and Damian and beginning of Michale) and after f. 161 (beginning of Jerome).
Parchment, ff. ii (modern paper) + 171 + i (contemporary ruled parchment) + ii (modern paper); 153 × 109 (103-104 × 65-66) mm. 18(-1, 2, 3) 2-208 218(- conjunct leaves 3 and 6, with loss of text) 228. Catchwords in the lower inside corner in a noting hand; quire and leaf signatures, apparently in letters and roman numerals, in the middle of the lower margin, most partly or wholly trimmed away; the fifth leaf in several quires has an “x” in the same location; another set of signature marks seems to occur in the lower right corner, but most are trimmed away. 2 columns of 29 lines, ruled in red ink, top and bottom 2 lines full across; pricking sometimes visible in the 3 outer margins. Written in a gothic book hand in 2 sizes according to liturgical function. Five 4- to 2-line gold initials on white-patterned blue/dusky pink grounds with narrow bracket bar border of gold and color and ink hair sprays decorated with acanthus leaf, colored trilobe flowers and gold motifs, occurring on ff. 1 (Ascension), 7v (Pentecost), 14v (Trinity), 138 (Assumption), 167 (All Saints); on f. 17v (Eucharist), similar border with 4-line patterned pink initial on a gold ground. 2-line initials alternating red and blue with flourishing of the other color; 1-line initials alternating red and blue. Liturgical directions underlined in red; rubrics, as titles, in red. Cadelled ascenders on f. 86r-v. Erased notes ff. 145v-146. Bound, s. XVIIIex, in greenish half-calf over marbled boards. Written possibly in northern France (perhaps Soissons?) for Dominican use, as suggested by the feasts in the sanctorale. “No. 6” in early modern hand (?) on front pastedown. Sold by L. C. Harper in a sale by Anderson, New York, 17 February 1919, n. 647, where it is said to be a “Lectionarium” (sale slip with volume). Acquired by G. D. Smith.
