Marseilles, 1655
Nautical chart of the Aegean Sea made by Bremond, bound with 2 charts by Salvator Oliva (numbered HM 2515, q.v.) Parchment, ff. 2 (1 sheet folded in center and pasted to back of flyleaf and back of following chart); 405 × 288 mm. (map size, 374 × 538 mm. on double page opening). Bifolium attached with stub. Border is a yellow band triple ruled on each side in black ink. Black and red ink for nomenclature in a cursive hand; land masses outlined in color, islands painted gold, red, or blue; 8 compass roses with usual 32 rhumb line network in black; red and green ink for principal directions; no latitude or longitude; 2 unnumbered scales of distance; decorated with vignettes of cities and an elaborate cartouche for one distance scale. Bound, ca. 1830, with HM 2515 in pink marbled paper over cardboard, brown calf spine.
