Description: - ff. i + 152 + ii - Sixteenth century. Original sewing on four narrow, double, tawed thongs laced into oak boards and pegged or nailed. Plain, wound endbands on vegetable fiber cores, probably laid in grooves, are covered with secondary colored endbands sewn through the spine covering. The edges are gilt, the spine round. Covered in brown goatskin, blind-tooled with a diamond pattern on the spine, each diamond enclosing two small concentric circles, a floral border on the sides enclosing vertical lines of assorted ornaments. A strap-and-pin fastening, the wood cut out for the strap ends, the pins on the lower board. Joints partially cracked, straps wanting, some worm damage. - Presented to Yale in 1940 by the Rev.
