Arms (unidentified) stamped on binding: on front, quarterly 1 and 4, barry of 6, 2 and 3, a lion rampant; inescutcheon, a bar fess impaled with barry of 6; the whole held by a two-headed eagle, displayed, below a crown. Back cover: barry of 8 impaled with a patriarchal cross on a hillock. - Purchased from C.A. Stonehill in 1963 with the Albert de Silver Fund. - Shailor, B. Description: - ff. 81 - Original undecorated white pigskin, with semicircular tabs (?) at both ends of the spine, over heavy leather boards. At the top of the front cover is the original shelfmark "D.II" (?); also a strip of parchment pasted onto the leather with the inscription: "Sermones a die Palmarum usque ad festum Penthecostis in papiro ***********. E.62" (s. XVI ). On the spine with four raised bands the handwritten inscription "SERMONES". The rear pastedown is a leaf in the same handwriting as the text in our manuscript, and probably belonging to it. Remnants of four leather ties at each cover, two at the outer edge and one in the middle of the upper and lower edge. - Collection of Sir Thomas Phillipps (MS 12195). Gift of Thomas E. Marston, November 1974.

Description: - ff. i + 121 - Fifteenth century. Quarter red leather (pigskin) and oak boards with rounded edges; the leather fixed on the boards with iron nails; sewn on three split leather thongs. Remnants of one strap attached to the rear board, with a brass pin in the front board. Part of the iron attachment for a chain preserved at the top of the rear board. Yellowish leather pastedowns, now detached. - Purchased on the Edwin J. Beinecke Fund.
