Description: - ff. 146 + i - 16th century German wooden boards and tooled leather. Leather stamped with panels showing King David, Paul, etc. Leather clasps and brass hinges (one missing) in shape of lion mask. - Written at order of Berthold, abbot of Weingarten (1200-35), as was his sacramentary, now NY, Morgan Library, M.710. Remained at Weingarten until 1781. Collection of Lord Vernon; his sale (1918) to Maggs. By 1920, acquired for the Spencer collection. - De Ricci, 1335. H. Description: - ff. 152 - Bound, s. XV, in stamped leather over wooden boards cut almost flush to book block at fore edge, 2 fore edge clasps closing to front boards; evidence of 5 bosses on each cover. - Given (Aug. 16, 1544) by Magdalena ab Hessburg to "poeta Bruschius" (? the historian Caspar Brusch, 1518-59).
