Sold in 1924 to James Hosmer Penniman of Philadelphia who presented it to the Penniman Memorial Library of Education of Yale University in the same year. - Shailor, B. Description: - ff. 46 - Eighteenth century. Brown goatskin gold-stamped with portrait heads in a foliage border and flowers in central panel. Title on spine reads Demetrius Moschopo[li]tes (author of the life of Jacobus Manas). A green tie. - Belonged to Frederick North, 5th Earl of Guilford (1766-1827) and to Sir Thomas Phillipps (no. 9233). Purchased from L. C. Description: - ff. i + 20 - Modern. The covers are two 13th-century parchment manuscript fragments over pasteboard, the spine consisting of a modern blank strip of parchment with the inscription in handwriting imitating early Roman type: "1778. Liber Priapeorum". The fragments are complete leaves from one manuscript, written in small Gothica Textualis Libraria (Littera Parisiensis); they contain a scholastic treatise in Latin on virtues. The decoration consists of paragraph marks and 2-line flourished initials alternately in red and blue. - Gift of Thomas Ewart Marston, Yale 1927.
